Same-day adult lift tickets for Cannon will increase by $5 for both adults and seniors this ski season, after approval this month from a key legislative committee.

The new rates were approved after lawmakers pushed back on initial plans by the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources for bigger increases for seniors, residents, and state employees. Lawmakers also rejected a department proposal to charge $10 for hiker parking on weekends and holidays.

The department had proposed a $15 increase for one-day senior ski lift tickets. But some lawmakers on the Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee balked at that request over concerns of raising rates too dramatically and deterring tourism.

The department came back to the lawmakers with a revised proposal that increased one-day tickets for seniors by $5. An initial proposal to increase rates for state residents on Wednesdays, when they receive a discount, was eliminated. And the New Hampshire state employee ticket will only go up $2, not the $4 that was initially requested.

One-day adult tickets will now cost $94 online or $104 if purchased at the mountain. Wednesday tickets for New Hampshire residents will stay the same price: $45 online or $55 at the window.

And New Hampshire state employees can purchase same-day tickets for $52 or buy them online for $47.
